September 2005 -
Come
to Bury Caesar’s. Caesar’s Bistro and Bailey’s
Pub, both located in the Regency Condos downtown on Southbridge Street,
are changing hands. Paul Bonetti has decided to sell the business to husband
and wife Charles & Anna Debreczeni. The new restaurant will be called
Anna’s Hungarian Kitchen and will feature upscale Hungarian food.
Caesar’s Bistro, whose kitchen was under the direction of Keith
Bonetti, served some of the most innovative food in the city. They will
be missed.
That Eighties Show. The 80s Lounge will soon be taking
over the space now occupied by Thyme’s Square on Hudson and the
adjacent space that formerly housed the Sheriff’s office. Thyme’s
is closing its doors after a ten year run at the corner of Pleasant and
Hudson Streets in Worcester. Chef Gary Killeen will be staying on with
the new owners Michelle and Dante Simone. They are changing the establishment
to more of a lounge with Killeen cooking up the bar’s extensive
(15 - 20 items) appetizer menu. The full menu will feature ribs, burgers,
and pasta.
New Mexican. The Qdoba Mexican Grille opened at the
Shoppes at Blackstone Valley on Route 146 in Millbury at the beginning
of August. Located near the movie theater, the chain restaurant specializes
in fresh Mexican food. This is the first franchise to open in the state
outside of the Boston Metro area.
Zorba’s Still Greek. Zorba’s Pizzeria Tavern
recently opened its doors on Route 20 in Charlton at the site has housed
restaurants for almost 20 years. The 130 seat restaurant will feature
Mediterranean food as well as sandwiches, wraps and burgers. Prices range
up to $16. The new venture is owned by Christos and Nusa Demopoulos.
Dino’s gets a Makeover. Dino’s Restaurant
has undergone a makeover. Taking advantage of the slower summer months,
owner Jay Evangelista has undertaken a redesign of the restaurant. The
bar has been moved from the small side dining room into the main area.
And the dining room itself is currently undergoing a makeover, too.
Expansion Pains. Biaggio’s Grille on Park Ave.
in Worcester has undergone a major growth spurt. The front of the eatery
has been completely changed by a new addition that expands the formerly
small bar area.
With 3 You Get Kibbee. El Basha, already with restaurants
on both Belmont Street and Park Ave. in Worcester, will soon be opening
its third location inWestboro near the Piccadilly Pub, right off Route
9. If they produce the quality of food that they do at their Worcester
locations, the people of Metro West will be lining up around the block.
When Irish Eyes R smiling. The Galway Pub, an Irish
bar owned by Colin O’Connor, recently opened for business at the
Stafford Street site that formerly housed Andrea Restaurant’s, just
up from Webster Square.
