Up & Comers Hint of Lime
By RACHAEL ADAMS
June 2005 - This month, thePULSE is introducing a new section
devoted to giving local bands who are just under the radar, who haven’t
quite broken through yet, a little push. There’s a catch, though
– each band featured has to in turn nominate another band for the
next issue. Performers helping performers, that’s what we’re
hoping to encourage.
Our debut band is Hint of Lime. I decided to ask the band just one question,
“How would you describe Hint of Lime?” Here’s their
response: “What can you say about Hint of Lime that hasn’t
been said? Well, OK, not much has been said so there might be a lot. We’re
based in Worcester and have been together since last August, though some
of the members were still a part of Raccoon Village, a band that performed
at WPI. We play original music with a wide range of influences - everything
from ABBA to Zappa. OK, maybe we lean a little bit more to Zappa., OK,
a lot more. We approach our music with a serious smile. What we play is
often in the moment, though we’ve taken the time to rehearse the
moment so we’ll recognize it when it gets there.”
Already familiar faces at Tammany Hall and local fraternity shin-digs,
this clever (do check out their site, it’s terrifically witty) jam
band, with material influenced by the likes of Phish. The Dead, The Allman
Brothers and others, is poised to make the leap to local favorite soon.
They’ve already got an impressive repertoire of original work and
do some mighty fine covers, too. If you can, join the guys at a private
party at Tammany Hall on June 11. There are more details on the Hint of
Lime website www.hintoflime.com
about how to get on the guest list.
