Rob Roy Academy will again be holding a cut-a-thon to raise money for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® (NCMEC) on May 24th 2012 from 9:00am – 8:00pm. Last year they raised over $10,000.
In observance of National Missing Children’s Day, Rob Roy Academy will join with other cosmetology and barbering schools nationwide to raise money for NCMEC. Any and all haircuts are just $5 all day/night, and ALL money collected will be donated to NCMEC. Both Rob Roy Academy’s Cosmetology and Barbering clinics are participating, and additional services offered for just $5.00 each include: Shampoo/Cut/Style, Shampoo/Style, Manicure, Pedicure, Waxing, Fade, Line-up, Blow Out, and Men’s Regular.
“Rob Roy Academy is participating in this national cut-a-thon because we believe that volunteerism and community service are important to the success and growth of our students and the well-being of our community,” states Sue Derosier, Director of Schools.
“Research has found that more than 2,000 children are reported missing every day and that one in five girls and one in 10 boys will be sexually exploited by the time they reach adulthood. In the face of these potential risks, it is more important now than ever that parents and guardians teach children how to stay safer. NCMEC is an important resource in helping with this mission,” adds Robert Lapierre, Owner.
Rob Roy is currently accepting donations at its location at 150 Pleasant Street in Worcester, 01609, and will be holding additional fundraisers leading up to the May 24th event.
NCMEC was founded in 1984 and since then has assisted law enforcement in the recovery of more than 157,720 missing children. The organization’s CyberTipline has handled more than 816,800 reports of child sexual exploitation.
